A Masterpiece in the Making

A best seller is written one letter, one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one chapter at a time. A simple thought leads to an outline that over time becomes the author’s best work.
So it is with a painting. One brush stroke at a time, one dab of color here and there over many moments in time becomes a "Mona Lisa" that the world travels to admire for centuries to come.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)

A life that shines for Jesus is a life full of good works. These good works include the words we say to encourage and point others to Jesus as well as the deeds we do that bring glory to God. As we walk in the Spirit and in the ways of our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 10:38), each kind word, each loving act is part of the masterpiece that brings the Author and Finisher of our faith glory and honor.
Is the will of God really just ONE BIG thing we are called to do? Have you even found that BIG thing? At 60, I am not sure I have.
Could it possibly be found in a thousand acts of love and kindness? Those many unnoticed good works we do each and every day to show God’s love to others? Can it be found in the mundane, messy tasks of caring for a toddler? Can God’s will be found in caring for the needs of an elderly friend or loved one? Maybe the will of God is found in sharing a single Gospel tract while going through the drive through? And how about a kind encouraging word to a friend who feels all hope is gone?
Yielding to the Holy Spirit’s leading to do good and bless others with encouraging words and deeds are the reason we were created. This is the great plan of God for our lives. We are His masterpiece in the making, one good deed, one good word at a time.
Speaking of a masterpiece, I hope you enjoy these photos of my granddaughter and her beautiful painting. God bless you my friends!
